KARL ROVE
Bush’s Controversial “Architect”

The President has described Rove as the “architect” of his political success, especially of his re-election in 2004. Currently Rove has been under strong attack for his role in revealing the undercover C.I.A. agent, Victoria Plame.

Rove was born on December 25, 1950. His chart (view chart) shows extraordinary determination and drive as well as two especially strong connections to the President.

Seven out of his ten planets are in the action-oriented CARDINAL signs. His SUN (Ego) is placed in pragmatic and ambitious CAPRICORN, as is MERCURY (how he thinks) and VENUS in CAPRICORN (showing his love of hard work). The CAPRICORN SUN has a happy and optimistic aspect (sextile) to expansive JUPITER but also a tight connection (square) to demanding SATURN, the taskmaster of the zodiac. And lastly, his SUN-URANUS opposition shows a willingness to challenge the status quo.

His clowning and playful side was previously disarming to many in the Press even when most aggravated by him. This is shown by both his SUN-JUPITER sextile as well as his VENUS-MERCURY conjunction (love of pranks). His reputation for “dirty tricks” might be ascribed to MOON and MERCURY forming a T-square with NEPTUNE, planet of vision and imagination but also of deception. Another indicatory of sneaky types of behavior might be his MERCURY in conjunct PLUTO (power).

For the last two years PLUTO in SAGITARRIUS, stressing (by square) his NODES at 22 VIRGO-PISCES as well as his PROGRESSED MARS in PISCES, shows that this is a very fateful time for him. This pressure continues at least through this November. Who can guess how much of that might be ascribed to his involvement the Plame affair? Bush and the White House are under so much attack anyway.

Rove has two very close connections to George Bush. The first is his MARS (action planet) in AQUARIUS conjunct the President’s 7th house of partnership. The second is Rove’s MOON in CANCER which shows his emotional identification to BUSH’S SUN in CANCER. As different as they may be, Rove and Condoleezza Rice (view chart) each have that same SUN-MOON in CANCER connection to BUSH. Rove is emotionally tuned in to the President and can express his own aspirations through his boss.

However egregious his role in this latest scandal, it is unlikely Bush would let him go. Without knowing his time of birth, there are no obvious signs that he is due for a career change.
