THE POWER COHORT:

Why did the Clintons (Bill's chart, Hillary's chart) and Gores (Al's chart, Tipper's chart) both then and now, as well as George W. Bush (view chart) currently does such passionate adoration and such great distaste? They all have in common an astrological signature (*) characteristic of those born in 1946 and 1947 - a will to power, a need to control and to transform their world. This both attracts and scares other people.

Of course, there are millions of people born in those same years who do not elicit this degree of passion. It is necessary, astrologically, to have other indicators in an individual's chart which activate this urge to power.

The Boomer Generation born approximately between 1945 and 1956 were born with the planet, Pluto, in the sign of Leo. Pluto is the drive to power; in the sign of Leo it describes a powerful urge to be in command. For those born approximately between Aug. '46 and Sep. '48, the planet Saturn was also in the sign of Leo. Saturn is the planet of pain and struggle, of discipline and achievement. Leo is the pre-eminent sign of self expression, the importance creating a strong, even regal, sense of identity. Therefore, many with this Saturn-Pluto in Leo combination are driven to express themselves as leaders in a great arena.

Politics is the art of compromise in the pursuit of wielding power. When carried to its extreme, this Saturn-Pluto combination can be abusive; when used constructively, it can help create "The Productive Narcissist" who thinks he can, and often does, change the world. The recently published book, "The Productive Narcissist", written by Michael Maccoby (psychoanalyst and business and political advisor), is worth reading in order to help understand these kinds of people who do change our world.
